It's Called Unhealthy, Not Sexy

There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to lose weight. Though, there is a difference between waiting to lose it because everyone else is and because it would be better for your health. These days, it seems like more and more children are looking up to these unrealistic stars. They're wanting to wear inappropriate clothing or make-up when they're barely even thirteen. My theory is that this is happening because of the things they're seeing on the television or in magazines. Even music is becoming inappropriate. It seems like that no matter where we turn there are these "sexy" images. I'm trying to figure out what makes people think that it's okay to put these things up for everyone to see. I mean, fine, sex sells, but these things are corrupting people. It's basically telling people that if you're not pretty or you're not skinny that you're no good. At least that's the way I've always felt when I see these things.
As I said before, there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight. I plan on losing weight myself. It's not because I'm seeing images of these skinny, pretty people; it's because I know it would be the best for me. I won't starve myself, or go gag myself after a meal. No, I plan on doing it the right way. I will set a goal, I will watch what I eat, and I will exercise. I don't want to be so small that I'm barely even here, I just want to be able to say I'm comfortable with the weight I'm at and that I feel better about myself. There are people who see these skinny models and all of a sudden they have to be that small. Most of the time these people are already at an average size, so there is no need for them to be any smaller. It's like that they don't realize you can become so unhealthy by trying to lose the weight you don't need to lose. Most of the time they do it in crazy ways as well. It makes me sad. I seriously worry about these people.
I would never want my children (not that I have any as of right now, I am only 19) to grow up in a world that would tease them for being different. I personally encourage difference. If we're all the same, what's the point in even living?
All in all, what I'm trying to say is that the things that are seen in magazines aren't always "sexy". There are so many images out there that are point bad ideas in the heads of people every where. People start to think that they're not cool because they don't own the most expensive items. They start to believe that they'll be cool if they have sex even though they're only thirteen. These thoughts are continuing to be put in the heads of everyone that these false things are seeming to become true. You don't have to wear make-up to look pretty. You don't need to wear the best fashions to be fashionable. All you have to do is be yourself. If you do, to me, you've become a beautiful person.
There is no such thing as "perfect". Some people say that we will one day live in a perfect world and we'll all be perfect. I'm sorry, I personally think that would be boring. If we're perfect, we cannot make mistakes. If we cannot make mistakes, how are we to learn? I would never want to be perfect. Being perfect means being the same as everyone else...and I enjoy being different.

If you think I'm wrong with the things I say, so be it. We all have our opinions. This just happens to be mine.
